Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival is a major event that is uniquely Okinawan and unlike any festival in any other prefectures of Japan, in which people from all over the world with Okinawan roots and identities gather in the motherland of Okinawa. The festival is held in Okinawa every five years. 

8th World Uchinanchu Festival is planned to be in October 27, 2027 (Pre-Festival) with the Main Event from October 28, 2027 to October 31, 2027.

Okinawa Governor Tamaki encouraged world-wide participation and support: “the festival unites uchinanchus (Okinawans) globally, and provides an opportunity to demonstrate the Okinawan chimugukuru (spirit) to the world.

The World Uchinanchu Festival first launched in 1990 and has successfully followed up with six festivals. The 7th World Uchinanchu Festival attracted over 215,000 in-person attendees and an additional 214,000 online attendees.

Nadine Shimabukuro has been successfully going to all 7 Uchinanchu Festivals.

In 2022, N & K Travel Service took over 200 people to Okinawa using Japan Airlines & All Nippon Airways. One of our assistants from Hawaii, went to Los Angeles to escort the people from Los Angeles, California to Okinawa and back.

  • Our dates for our tour will be announced soon.
  • Signups for the 8th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival will be on a first come, first serve basis and will not start after we have secured the air and hotels which may not be until October to December of this year.
  • We are still in the planning stages to see if we will be one of a handful travel agencies who will have seats on the charter flight from Honolulu to Okinawa.
  • We will have regular group seats on Japan Airlines and possibly All Nippon Airways.
  • There is a possibility that we will have a group departing out of LAX Group with an assistant from Honolulu to escort the group to Okinawa. These seats will be limited and that information will be forwarded as soon as we have any information.
